Warcraft 3 to Receive First Patch in Five Years

“Something need doing?”

Activision Blizzard apparently thinks so. In a seeming followup to Friday’s unexpected update to Diablo II, Blizzard has teased a new patch for another of its timeless classics: Warcraft 3.

Patch 1.27 – the first for the game since Patch 1.26a in 2011 – will arrive on March 15, 2016. Robert Bridenbecker, head of Blizzard’s Classic Games team, discusses the patch in the video below:

Though video is addressed to Warcraft 3’s Chinese audience, the upcoming patch will be available for all versions of Warcraft 3 around the world. Bridenbecker doesn’t say exactly what the patch will contain, but he does note that 1.27 is only the “first stop” in what he calls “the journey.”

Whether or not Bridenbecker’s journey specifically involves Warcraft 3, or whether it involves Blizzard’s other classic games (like StarCraft), longtime Blizzard fans should keep an ear out for more upcoming news regarding the company’s classics.
