Sucker Punch, the developer behind the two Ghost games, Tsushima and Yoeti, Infamous, and Sly Cooper, is unfortunately one of the next developers to suffer layoffs. An ex-employee spoke to Aftermath and it has been revealed that the developer has let go of 24 employees.
An email sent to staff said:
“After carefully observing the challenges in the market and reviewing the team needs for our next project, we’ve decided to make some staffing reductions. Several positions across Sucker Punch will be eliminated as a result.
We know this is a lot to take in, and we want to assure you that we did not make this decision lightly. We have given this a lot of attention and worked to support our affected colleagues during this transition as well as we can. … There’s no getting around that this is a hard day. Next week we will go into more details about the future.”
This comes following the release of Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition. In addition to all of the content that was released when the game launched originally, the Complete Edition adds a new narrative expansion, a new single-player survival mode, and new quality-of-life updates.
The new narrative expansion, Echoes of Sekigahara, focuses on Atsu’s time on the mainland following the arrival of Nagato, a figure from her past. Throughout the narrative, it splits between Atsu’s time on the Battle of Sekigahara and a key moment in her life before she returns home for her quest; and exploring a previously unseen valley once inhabited by The Snake and his gang of loyal followers, the Vipers.
The new single-player survival mode, Most Wanted, is Sucker Punch’s take on a roguelike. Players will accept bounties in order to start new runs, where taking down enemies rewards the players with perks, as well as unlock additional characters to play as.
