Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint Will Be On The Epic Games Store For PC

Similar to some of their most recent titles like Anno 1800 and The Division 2, Ubisoft has confirmed that Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint will launch on PC via Uplay and the Epic Games Store. It will not be available on Steam.

Ever since the Epic Games Store launched, a lot of games have been released exclusively on the platform. The main reason behind that is how the Epic Games Store splits the revenue with developers.

Instead of the usual 70/30 split that most storefronts use, the Epic Games Store provides developers with an 88/12 split. Epic Games Founder and CEO Tim Sweeney doesn’t agree with the usual split and said “30% store dominance is the #1 problem for PC developers, publishers, and everyone who relies on those businesses for their livelihood. We’re determined to fix it and this is the one approach that will effect major change”.

So as the Epic Games Store set to establish themselves, they were looking for exclusivity deals with developers. They have had deals with major AAA titles like The Division 2, Metro Exodus, and Borderlands 3 to smaller titles. Tim Sweeney has said that the hunt for exclusive titles for their platform would end if Steam matches their revenue split. “If Steam committed to a permanent 88% revenue share for all developers and publishers without major strings attached, Epic would hastily organize a retreat from exclusives (while honoring our partner commitments) and consider putting our own games on Steam.

After revealing Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Ubisoft stated in an interview that their game isn’t political which has been somewhat of an issue in past Ubisoft titles. Sebastien Le Prestre, Associate Lead Development Tester on the game said “It’s fiction. It’s all a work fiction. We’re going for ultimate realism, but beyond that, there’s no message that we’re trying to send to people here. We just want people to have fun, to have an enjoyable experience. We’re not really ‘walking a tightrope’ in that sense. This universe is so rich and gives us so many gameplay opportunities that there’s plenty of inspiration for us there.
