Earlier in the week, the Game Developers Choice Awards 2020 nominees were revealed. Today, the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences revealed the nominees for the 23rd annual D.I.C.E. Awards which will take place on February 13, 2020. Academy members will begin general voting for the video game industry’s premier, peer-juried awards show on January 1o.
The show will be co-hosted for the fourth year by Jessica Chobot and Greg Miller. 65 games that were released in 2019 received nominations with Control and Death Stranding leading all games with 8 nominations each. Disco Elysium and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare were nominated for 6 awards. Outer Wilds and Untitled Goose Game are nominated for 4 awards. A Short Hike, Mortal Kombat 11, Resident Evil 2, and Sayonara Wild Hearts are nominated for 3 awards.

Control’s nominations include Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction, Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction, Outstanding Achievement in Character, Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition, Outstanding Achievement in Story, Outstanding Technical Achievement, Action Game of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Game Direction, and Game of the Year.
Death Stranding is nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Animation, Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction, two nominations for Outstanding Achievement in Character, Outstanding Achievement in Audio Design, Outstanding Technical Achievement, Adventure Game of the Year, and Game of the Year.
Control and Death Stranding are both nominated for Game of the Year. Other games nominated in this category include Disco Elysium, Outer Wilds, and Untitled Goose Game. All of the Game of the Year nominees were nominated for multiple categories.
