Street Fighter V Season 5 Brings In Dan Hibiki, Free Content & More

Today was the start of Street Fighter V season 5, the final season of the game. In celebration of the game’s fifth anniversary, Street Fighter V has added Dan Hibiki to the game, added a new battle mechanic, a new training stage, and more. Over the course of season 5, players can look forward to 4 more characters joining the roster as well as two new stages.

Last seen in Street Fighter IV, Dan Hibiki is a mainstay from the Street Fighter Alpha series. He is a training partner of Ryu and Ken and considers himself well equipped to fight anyone who gets in his way. Dan Hibiki can be added to the roster with the Season 5 character pass or the season five premium pass. He can also be acquired for $5.99 or with 100,000 fight money.

The Season 5 character pass includes all five season five characters and costume colors 3-10, five battle costumes (one for each season five character), six titles, exclusive PS4 themes, Steam wallpapers, and a bonus named Eleven. Eleven is a mimic character who can randomly transform into any character currently owned in Street Fighter V. The premium pass includes all five season 5 characters and costume colors 3-10, 26 new costumes, two new stages, all costume colors for all season 5 characters, eight titles, Eleven, 100,000 fight money, and exclusive PS4 themes and Steam wallpapers.

The new battle mechanic will is free for all players is called “V-Shift.” It provides players with all-new defensive options and strategies. Using one bar of V-gauge, and when timed correctly, V-Shift allows players to execute a fully invincible backdash that slows down time for a short period.

The new characters joining the game will be Rose (Spring 2021), Oro (Summer 2021), Akira (Summer 2021), and a fifth unannounced character who will join the roster in Fall 2021. The two new stages coming will be a Rose stage and an Akira stage.
