Sad Cat Studio’s REPLACED Delayed Again Until 2024

The upcoming 2.5D platformer game REPLACED has been delayed until 2024. Ukrainian developer Sad Cat Studios announced the news Tuesday morning, apologizing to fans and asking for patience and understanding as they develop their first title.

“…We want to stress the fact that we do understand the game’s scope, and we are very aware of traps of over-promising and under-delivering,” said Sad Cat. “As of today, development is progressing at a steady pace. The majority of systems are functional now and we are in a super-intense asset production phase which is currently our main bottleneck.”

“…We want to deliver every aspect of the game to the same high standard and that requires additional time and effort. Unfortunately, this also means we have to delay the game’s release…” Sad Cat continued.

REPLACED will transport the player into an exhilarating and thrilling retro sci-fi world. Players will take control of an artificial intelligence trapped in a human body named R.E.A.C.H and explore and uncover the mysteries of this cinematic and pixel art world with free-flow action combat. Learn how to be human in a society that has taken a turn for the worst.

This is the second delay REPLACED has seen since its initial announcement in 2021. Previously, the ongoing war in Ukraine had caused the studio to delay development, as most of its workers resided in neighboring regions of the conflict, causing many to relocate.

REPLACED is set to release on the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox Game Pass, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Currently, there is no set release date for REPLACED but hopefully, fans will be able to see it released sometime in 2024 at the earliest.
