PUBG’s 4×4 Map Gets Map Test Starting Today

There has been much talk and speculation regarding the new PUBG map. The wait is partially over because starting later today, the 4×4 map will be available for handfuls of players to try out.

The latest announced map, currently dubbed as Codename: Savage, is a small, four by four kilometer island. It will be the smallest landmass out of the currently available maps, and it is designed to have a more fast-paced game for the entire duration of a round. This fast map also comes during the addition of the flare gun, an item designed to speed up the pace of the game a bit.

After being developed for a few months, PUBG’s development team has decided that they are ready to start receiving player feedback from the new island map. Because of the high player count, Codename: Savage will only be available to play as a closed beta for a limited time. Fret not, for this is only the first phase of testing, and more map tests will come in the future.

There are a few ways that players can get into the closed beta. The first way would be to claim beta code through the official beta map webpage. The page also warns of fake websites offering beta keys, so be wary of any other pages claiming to be handing out beta keys.

Another way is to get into the beta is to enter into the PC Gamer giveaway that will send out 2,000 beta keys tonight before testing starts. If you are a PC Gamer Club Legendary Tier member, however, a beta key should already be waiting in your email for you to redeem. The best part of the beta, however, is that you do not need to own PUBG to participate in the event.

PUBG‘s Savage map will begin testing on April 2 at 7pm PDT and will last until April 5 at 4am PDT.
