Indie Game Content Warning Released Major Update

The main bulk of Content Warning (2024) was developed on one month trip to Seoul, Korea. The co-op horror and humorous game was released on April 1st, 2024 for free before being adjusted to $7.99 USD the day after. In the game, players film themselves while exploring areas haunted by monsters, similar to Lethal Company (2023). 

Landfall Games, the Swedish developers behind Content Warning, have developed multiple games before basically cold dropping Content Warning on April 1st. Some of the games include the fighting game Stick Fight (2017), as well as physics-based strategic video game TABS (2019). Due to Content Warning’s initial free price upon release, many players were able to pick it up. Additionally, due to its multiplayer nature and the previous explosive success of Lethal Company, many content creators – even Vtubers – have played Content Warning on stream.

The studio released what they called “the first big Content Warning update” on May 2nd, 2024. In the patch, they added a new level, a hat shop, unlockable sky upgrades, new monsters, a new item (the rescue hook), sponsored video deals players can add after completing the first week, a mirror in the house, MetaCoins to purchase island upgrades and hats, and a new “rare cursed item” in the old world.

As for patching bugs and improvements on general gameplay, Landfall has changed level selection to be random, tweaked audio and monster balance, and boosted player voice range as the game uses proximity chat. They announced a few bug fixes as well, some of which patch camera issues, network issues, and hitbox issues (player collision).

Even though Landfall is currently working on HASTE: Broken Worlds, a ludic game with mechanics focused on the player speeding through different worlds, they still have developers patching and planning updates on Content Warning. This first update proves as such.
