Minit Is An Adventure Game Where You Die Every Sixty Seconds

Minit is an upcoming adventure game that is played sixty seconds at a time. Made in collaboration by seasoned veterans Jan Willem Nijman, Kitty Calis, Jukio Kallio, and Dominik Johann, players play as a duck with a newfound sword, ready to quickly take on a world filled with mischief.

The time limitation is brought upon by the cursed sword encountered. Players stumble upon it on a beach, and find out that it kills them after a minute of use. Nonetheless, after each death, the players resurrects in their starting location, and begin the journey once more. Their objective derives of dropping off the sword in a factory as soon as possible, and seeing what occurs from there.

Though the game prioritizes speed, it’s not to say meticulousness isn’t a prerequisite. Given the turnover rate of death, and a lack of serious stakes, testing out the waters in small jabs at the quest before partaking in the real attempt allow players to get a good feel for it. They will partake in puzzle-solving, find themselves involved in various encounters, and exploring mazes. This means the game offers opportunities to learn as you play, die, and run out of time. The adventure is much less about backtracking, and more about remembering what you did right or wrong, and fixing the decision accordingly during the next playthrough. Items are found, abilities must be unlocked, and the whirlwind minute of action will often go explored various times before unraveling the intended mode of execution.

For a game with this much replay value and ability to return to in a timely manner, Minit is certainly worth keeping an eye on. Minit will be available on Steam, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on April 3.
