PlayStation 4 Firmware Update Filled with Bugs

It looks like a recent firmware update released for the PlayStation 4 has led to many gamers experiencing a variety of bugs and glitches. Sony released the firmware update 4.70 for the PS4 May 30th. Long after installing the update, though, users are still experiencing some problems with it, as evidenced by this PS4 Reddit thread. It seems to be a compatibility issue with the PS4, as many gamers are reporting getting stuck on the main menu screen.

Whatever the bug is, it doesn’t seem tied to any specific device. According to an article from Tech Times, both original PS4 and PS4 Pro owners are experiencing the same issues. Some PS4 owners, however, were able to install the update without any resulting issues, so the exact cause is still up in the air.

These problems continue to persist. On the PS4 subreddit, one user by the name of “peaznsteaz” just recently reported glitch in which their account continuously appears offline, making them unable to join games and send invites. Other users on the thread report the same problem of being unable to send or receive invites. “peaznsteaz” was eventually able to fix this issue by putting the console in safe mode and “rebuilding the database,” but other users report the problem still won’t go away.

Needless to say, many gamers have become frustrated by this recent update’s bug, and with issues with Sony’s PlayStation as a whole. Just a couple weeks ago, thousands of gamers in the UK were banned from PlayStation Network over PayPal chargebacks. Hopefully, Sony fixes this issue with their recent update and work to prevent future issues from arising.
