Oddworld: New ’n’ Tasty Finally Coming to Wii U Next Week

“Hello.”

“Hello.”

“Follow me.”

“Okay.”

If you ever want to make in-roads with a purveyor of classic video games, drop this reference and you’ll likely raise an eyebrow or get a chuckle in response. But to wield such power, one must know its origins. It’s an exchange from Oddworld Inhabitants’ 1997 cult favorite puzzle platformer Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, which received a high-definition remake in the form of Oddworld: New ’n’ Tasty in July 2014.

The remake, which reworked the classic game from the ground-up, was developed by British studio Just Add Water and published by Oddworld Inhabitants. PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 3 platforms all received their respective versions of the game at varying points last year, and the PlayStation Vita got New ’n’ Tasty last month. But the fabled Wii U version of the game never came to fruition. Today, Oddworld Inhabitants announced that, at long last, New ’n’ Tasty will be coming to the Wii U’s Nintendo eShop on February 11, next week.

The Wii U version of New ’n’ Tasty was slated to release last year. But according to an exclusive report by Siliconera, the game was delayed due to technical difficulties concerning the 8GB model’s storage space.

A brief intro for the Wii U port can be viewed below:

Though New ’n’ Tasty is based on the first Oddworld Game, Abe’s Oddysee, it makes several significant adjustments to the classic experience. Most notably, the game features new voice acting, contemporary 3D visuals, and reworked cutscenes. Many of the game’s notoriously difficult or obtuse puzzles have also been revamped, which makes for a more accessible playing experience.

Oddworld fans on the Wii U can sink their teeth into a New ’n’ Tasty feast February 11 next week. The game will be priced at $14.99 US, though an initial launch discount will mark New ’n’ Tasty down to $11.24 US. It will be available on the American and European Nintendo eShops.
