Wadjet Eye Games, which is known for its point-and-click adventures, is teaming up with Wormwood Studios, the studio behind Primordia, for their upcoming surreal horror game. Named Strangeland, this pixel, horror narrative game has been in the works for many years and is finally expected to release next month.
In Strangeland, players will suddenly awaken to find themselves near a carnival where they bear witness to a lady as they jump to their death. Throughout the game, players must uncover the mystery of who the lady is, who you are, and where you are. There will be help from ravens, a scribe, an animated furnace, a mermaid, and other colorful characters within the carnival park. Players must also create powerful tools to survive. Like Wadjet Eye Game’s previous titles, Strangeland is another point-and-click adventure with a strong narrative propelling the player forward. However, players can traverse through the game on their own terms with multiple ways to solve puzzles, as the description says “you are not the audience; you are the player.”
Overall, players can expect around five hours of gameplay but they can replay the game multiple times and come at the puzzles in different ways and unlock different endings. There is also a voice-over available for the entirety of the game as well as an original soundtrack. For those that need a little more help, there is an integrated character hint system available.
Strangeland is coming to the PC through Steam and GOG on May 25. Until then, feel free to wishlist the title and check out Wadjet Eye’s other games available.
