War is hell, and Company of Heroes 2: The Western Front Armies’ new trailer sets out to show you just how tense it can be.
With a release date on the 24th excitement has been steadily building for Company of Heroes 2: The Western Front Armies. A standalone “expansion” for Company of Heroes 2, The Western Front Armies drops players into the role of commander for either the US or the German Oberkommando West forces. You can duke it out against your friends in WW2-inspired real time strategy combat across new maps, and with new units to the series. The newest trailer for the game starts out slow, but quickly builds in intensity.
The Company of Heroes series of games are well known among fans of the RTS genre. The games are built around the same core mechanics as the Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War games, which is no surprise given that Relic Entertainment are the talent behind development of both series. Company of Heroes 2 has itself received positive response from game critics and sticks close to the groundwork laid down by its predecessors.
Company of Heroes 2: The Western Front Armies will release on Tuesday, June 24th, and despite its position as an expansion for the core Company of Heroes 2 game will be playable as a standalone release. Set to debut at $19.99, The Western Front Armies should be either a great addition to the Company of Heroes universe for those who are already into the series, or could work as a wonderful introduction for newcomers interested in jumping in and finding out just what a WWII based RTS can be.
