According to journalist Jeff Grub, Microsoft has confirmed the showcase for their Xbox Series X games to be on July 23rd. While this event is mainly showing games from Xbox Game Studios, it will also add titles from third-party publishers that have gotten the approval from Microsoft. At the same time during this event, Xbox is also premiering gameplay footage of Halo Infinite, along with another shooter game that is supposed to release during the same time.
Microsoft apparently had already planned to showcase this set of games during the annual E3 conference but was forced to find another alternative when E3 was canceled to slow the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now though, they plan to reveal more next-gen games and news every month from now on as a part of its Xbox 20/20 plan.
While Halo Infinite is probably the main attraction to this month’s showcase, there is also set to be a series of reveals coming from the new Xbox studio The Initiative (who is said to be working on a legacy IP). Due to this news of the legendary IP coming back once again, fans have speculated that this is set to be the long-awaited shooter Perfect Dark. However, all that was said about The Initiative’s project is that it has been approved to create “ambitious and innovative game experiences”. Other names that are speculated to be revealed on the 23rd are Fable 4, Hellblade 2, and a new Forza game.
Farther in the future, Microsoft also has said that they will reveal Project Lockhart, which has fan ideas circling around the Xbox Series S, in August. As of now, we know that the Series S is a cheaper and less demanding version of the Series X.
