New Events Coming to Pokémon Go in November, Plus Galarian Weezing Raids

Niantic has announced a round of new in-game events coming to Pokémon Go “that will explore Pokémon types, introduce you to Legendary Pokémon, and celebrate friendship.” These three events will roll out over the last few weeks of November to commemorate the end of the year and upcoming holiday season.

The first event, Supereffective Week will start at 1 PM PST this upcoming Tuesday, November 19, and last until 1 PM on Tuesday, November 26. As the name implies, Supereffective Week focuses on Pokémon type advantages in battle. Throughout the duration of the event, players will have a higher chance of encountering Pokémon with type advantages in Team GO Rocket and Trainer battles in the wild, raids, and from completing Field Research. Additionally, players may find Shiny Tentacool, and will receive double stardust from Trainer Battles, extra Potions and Revives from PokéStops, and Charged TMs from three-start raids.

Just as Supereffective Week ends, the Rock and Fighting-Type Gen V Legendary, Terrakion, will be coming to five-star raids for the first time. Terrakion Raids will last from November 26 to 1 PM PST on Tuesday, December 17.

The final event, Friend Fest, will begin at 1 PM PST on Wednesday, November 27, and last through 1 PM PST on Monday, December 2. Friend Fest will “celebrate the spirit of family and friendship” and feature “family-themed Pokémon”—fitting, given it takes place over the U.S. Thanksgiving weekend. These family-themed Pokémon, which will include both Nidoran gender forms with their evolutions “and more,” will appear more frequently in the wild and in research tasks. Players can also trade with each other at half the Stardust cost as normal, and can even make two special trades per day. When players complete raids with their friends, their Pokémon will receive an attack boost.

These events aren’t the only new additions to the game. Earlier today, Niantic announced the arrival of Galarian Weezing in four-star raids to celebrate the release of Pokémon Sword and Shield. Initially, Galarian Weezing spawned frequently in four-star raids for the hour immediately following today’s Community Day event, but it will continue to appear “occasionally” in future raids.
