CD Projekt Red Addresses Reports Of Bugs & Multiple Updates For Cyberpunk 2077

Yesterday, the review embargo for Cyberpunk 2077 lifted, and one of the things that many reviews pointed out is how buggy the game is. There were also reports of multiple updates coming to the game that needs to be downloaded prior to being played. Today, CD Projekt Red has addressed the updates and how it will help fix some issues that have reported. CD Projekt Red’s Fabian Dohla talked about the updates answering fan questions.

Another fan question was about how the Xbox One X version would be affected by the update. Dohla responded, “it is different game with console update, yes.” It’s important to note that the reviews released yesterday were based on the PC version of the game. The game was delayed to December because they wanted to make sure that Cyberpunk 2077 was able to be played on current-gen, next-gen, and PC at the same time. There is also a next-gen update coming in the future for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as well.

Some of the bugs that have been reported include various NPC scripting errors, waiting for characters to initiate dialogue, move to a new location, etc. Certain UI elements don’t disappear without quitting to the main menu such as weapon crosshairs and item pickup notifications. Sprinting and jumping are disabled until you load the last save.

Other non-critical issues that have been reported include cars spawning in the path/space occupied by the player and NPC driven vehicles. The scanner filter gets stuck on during cutscenes. Characters walking through solid elevator doors. Characters losing pose – sitting in a chair then snapping to a standing position. Objects not loading in – invisible guitars, floating streetlights, invisible characters. Dialogue timing errors – characters talking over each other or repeating lines while the prior line still finishes, and many more issues.

Talking to PC Gamer, a CD Projekt Red spokesperson said that the initial pre-launch update includes “some but not all of the patch and fixes people will experience when the game launches.” This is before the Day 1 update that is coming to the game as well.

Cyberpunk 2077 launches this Thursday, December 10 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Google Stadia. CD Projekt Red has outlined how the launch of the game rolls out globally.
