Capcom Planning More Switch Titles

Due to Ultra Street Fighter II’s strong sales on the Nintendo Switch the Japanese based publisher has announced that they are now starting to prepare more Switch versions of it’s titles. According to Capcom’s latest financial report Ultra Street Fighter II “made an excellent start and proved to be a smash hit.” Also Takashi Mochizuk writer for the Wall Street Journal stated on Twitter that the game surpassed all previous expectations and sold 450,000 units in the first quarter. They didn’t go into detail on what the initial expectations for the game were, but this development has prompted the publisher to start preparing more titles for Nintendo’s newest console.

Ultra Street Fighter II was released in May and is an updated version of the original Street Fighter II. The updates include new game modes, improved graphics, as well as two new characters; Evil Ryu, and Violent Ken. A new co-op mode has also been added that will let players fight together against enemies. It also introduces another new mode called The Way of the Hado which is a first person fighting style mode which will use assets from Street Fighter IV. Players will also be given the option to change visuals from the original version to the updated one with just the push of a button.

A couple of months ago, company COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto stated that Capcom will see how well Ultra Street Fighter II sells on the Switch and will use that as a judging bases for assessing future support of the system.
