Valorant Confirmed for Summer of 2020 Launch

Riot Games has been been working on a new game going under the title Project A. Recently, some leaks came out hinting at Project A’s release name. Riot Games has confirmed the leaks. Valorant is the official name for Project A and will be seeing a summer of 2020 release. Valorant aims to combine the hero-based aspect of Overwatch and the hyper lethal gunplay of Counter-Strike. A character has already been leaked, “Sage” who focuses on support abilities with orbs, but the rest of the cast has yet to be revealed in full.

Along with the punishing, fast-paced, tactical shooting Valorant offers a wide range of supernatural abilities with each character. Much like Overwatch, creative use of powers and synergy between teammates will be essential to stave off defeat. Riot Games has released a preview of the game, but they have made it clear that it is subject to change. The preview of Valorant is not quite the intended version for public players to experience, instead, it is an internal build for the developers to test out. Valorant is planned to be a 5v5 competitive shooter, just like Overwatch which Valorant seems to be planned to compete with. Valorant will be on PC only as of now but will be free to play. Riot Games has yet to say how they are expecting to monetize the game.

Valorant is not the only project that Riot Games has been developing to compete with other industry giants, Legends of Runeterra is a free to play card game set in the League of Legends universe. Legends of Runterra models itself heavily off of Blizzard’s hit HearthstoneLegends of Runterra has seen a release into open beta. Legends of Runterra is free to play on PC and iOS with the ability to preregister on Google Play.

Griffin Gilman: Gaming may very well be half of my personality, so it is only natural that I write about them. The best genre is RPGs, while the best game is Nier Automata. That's not an opinion but a matter of facts.
