The last major update that Genshin Impact players have seen was version 1.2 with the “Chalk Prince and the Dragon” Update which introduced two new playable characters as well as a map expansion. Early today, miHoYo released news about what is coming in version 1.3, also known as “All that glitters.” One of the most awaited aspects of the upcoming version is the new playable five-star character, Xiao. He is an ameno polearm user which was first seen in the opening month but his stats and abilities have improved since then. Players have already met him in the main storyline; however, they will now be able to pull for him in the event banner as well as complete his story quest.
The big event of this update is the lantern festival, a historic Liyue tradition that will handsomely reward players with 1,600 primogems as well as a free Liyue four-star character. That includes Xiangling, Xinyan, Beidou, Ningguang, Xingqiu, and Chongyun. The lantern rite will be divided into multiple stages, similar to the 1.2 event. Players will have to help around Liyue to raise their Festive Fever Level and unlock more quests. There will also be a bunch of mini-games scattered around the streets of Liyue to partake in. One of them is a tower-defense type game known as Theater Mechanicus where players can either play solo or co-op in order to earn Peace Talismans.
As can be seen in the trailer, there will be a new creature to fight as well. Katheryne will send players to go fight Geovishaps around Liyue. Also, buffs for the five-star geo character Zhongli will be coming soon.
“All that Glitters” will begin on February 3. Genshin Impact is free and available on PC, iOS, Android, and PlayStation 4.
