Ubisoft Announces that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Had the Biggest Launch in Franchise History

Ubisoft’s long-running series, Assassin’s Creed, has seen its fair share of ups and downs, but the most recent entry seems to have broken through some unbelievable statistics. According to the company, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla had the single biggest launch in the entire history of the franchise. Ubisoft states that the game has “sold through more units in its first week than any other Assassin’s Creed game sold during the same period.” In addition, Ubisoft also states that the title had the biggest launch for a Ubisoft PC game, “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has become the top-selling Ubisoft PC launch ever, driven by all-time record Ubisoft Store sales performance.”

While Ubisoft themselves are making the claims of this success, they aren’t providing any type of numbers for these statistics. They also did not mention if these sales were from digital or physical sales, although it’s probably likely due to both. The game was also more than likely boosted in sales thanks to it being a launch title for both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/Series S, both of which released in the same week. The company did provide some in-game statistics, such as players covering more than four million kilometers, unlocked more than 55 million buildings for their settlements, and played more than 3.5 million games of Orlog.

Considering that this is the 12th mainline entry of a franchise that already has successful numbers from previous installments, this is an outstanding achievement. Fans came out in droves for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which has you taking the role of a Viking who becomes involved with the Assassin Order and their hated enemies The Templars. The game has been fairly well-received by critics thus far, including us; in our review, we praise the open-world aspects and how easy it is to get lost for hours doing side objectives.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available now for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/Series S, and PC through Uplay and Google’s Stadia.
