Game publisher Elex has announced that the upcoming mobile strategy game based on the famous Walking Dead comics from Skybound, The Walking Dead: Survivors, will be releasing next week on April 12, 2021, for iOS and Android. Last month, pre-registration opened up. As of now, more than 1.5 million have pre-registered. The game tasks players with using survivors to build their town to fend off other players and hordes of walkers.
Survivors include fan-favorite characters such as Rick, Herschel, and Glenn who will be available to play. The game will feature 80+ iconic characters from the comics, each with their own unique roles. Survivors are grouped into two categories, Combat and Development. Players will use these characters to fortify their town against other players and hordes of walkers. Rick is a Combat Survivor focused on fighting off walkers, wielding a rifle, an axe, and his skills increase damage. Glen is a Combat Survivor focused on defense, wielding a pistol, and his skill increases defense. Beta is a Combat Survivor focused on offense, wielding two swords and his skills trigger extra damage was done and increased attack. Maggie is a Development Survivor focused on production, wielding a pistol and her skills increase production rate and speeds. Hershel is a Development Survivor who is a medic, wielding a rifle and he increases Healing Speedd and hospital capacity while reducing healing cost.
Players will be tasked with building their best towns and armies through assigning tasks, building strategic battle plans, building and expanding their bases by exploring new territories. Players must think carefully about their strategy with what buildings they contrast, how they fortify their fences from hordes of walkers and players, which characters they promote in battle, and how they progress their character abilities.
The Walking Dead: Survivors, players will encounter iconic IP characters as you’ll live through classic moments and visit fan-favorite locations within the world. Throughout Survivors, you’ll build up your camp, recruit your team, and grow your reputation as a leader. Each survivor has unique attributes and skills specific to certain tasks. As the camp leader, it’s up to you to assign the right survivors to the proper tasks. Tasks include gathering supplies, farm, train, explore, fight enemies, recruit new heroes, and tending to your group’s medical needs. Your camp will be in constant threat of walker hordes. Building your defenses accordingly will be key. You can strengthen your walls, place obstacles, set up the survivors’ formation, and trigger the survivors’ skills. Players can team up with other players to form Clans. You can build various clan buildings across the region to gain more territories and strengthen your forces as you fight off Walkers as well as Negan and his gang of Saviors who are the real threat. Exploration is the key to unlocking new locations, characters, items, resources, and even learning more about the world.
