The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Cowabunga Collection Includes 13 Retro Games to Return to PlayStation in 2022

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Cowabunga Collection was unveiled by PlayStation earlier this week to add to their roster of retro game remakes which will launch sometime in 2022. In this fan-requested collection, all 13 console and arcade games and their regional versions will be brought to PlayStation. This means the Cowabunga Collection will feature the entire western release of 8-bit and 16-bit games, their Japanese versions, and of course the TMNT Arcade games. The collection’s 8-bit Arcade games TMNT II: The Arcade Game, TMNT III: The Manhattan Project and the 16-bit TMNT IV: Turtles in Time and the Hyperstone Heist will also have up to 4-player multiplayer capability.

Nickelodeon, which is an American cable television channel focused on children’s programming and expert retro game developer Digital Eclipse are currently working together with Konami to bring this exclusively to PS4 and PS5 consoles. “Our partners at Nickelodeon provided amazing imagery from the original cartoons series and comic books and helped connect the franchise from the different mediums”, says Charles Murakami, Senior Producer at Konami. Konami, a Japanese video game manufacturer, was responsible for producing many of the first TMNT games since 1989.

Modern quality-of-life features will be added to the games such as the ability to save anytime, rewind at any point and button mapping. Custom game guides will also be included that fit the aesthetic of video game magazines dating to the 80s and 90s, which was when the first TMNT games were first developed by Konami.

The full list is as follows below and will include both the western and Japanese versions except for TMNT Arcade and Tournament Fighters (NES) since they don’t have Japanese versions.
