The Squishmallows Brand is Getting Its Own Mobile Game

East Side Games Group, the prolific developer of freelance mobile games, is working with Jazware to develop a game based on the popular Squishmallow toy franchise. On May 8th, the company released a statement explaining the new project: “With the ongoing expansion of the Squishmallows brand into various consumer product categories, and a passionate fan base, Squishmallows will now enter the world of mobile gaming with new and iconic characters from fan favorite squads.”

The Canadian company is set to add to its portfolio of free-to-play mobile games based on existing properties. While they have produced some original games, such as Milk Farm Tycoon, East Side Games Group is primarily known for its games based on sitcoms, like The Office: Somehow We Manage, Trailer Park Boys: Greasy Money, and The Goldbergs: Back to the 80s. East Side Game Group has also developed Doctor Who: Lost in Time, Star Trek: The Lower Decks, RuPaul’s Drag Race Superstar, Funko Pop Blitz, Dragon Up, It’s Always Sunny: The Gang Goes Mobile, and Archer: Danger Phone.

“Squishmallows is loved by the world over and we are incredibly excited to serve and expand its audience with new levels of fun and interactivity that is only possible with our mobile game. We can’t wait to share more about how players and fans alike will be able to play with their favourite Squish,” –  Jason Bailey, CEO of ESGG.

Squishmallows are a line of kawaii plush toys. They resemble anything from animals to Disney princesses and are iconic for their almost completely round, minimalistic design. So far the viral franchise has inspired a Monopoly board game, Roblox collaboration, and countless apparel items. As for what their new mobile game will look like, we can only look for clues in East Side Games Group’s previous titles. Funko Pop Blitz, the company’s other toy-based game, is a matching game where players find three of the same Funko Pop character amidst colorful rows. They can collect virtual Funko Pop icons, participate in events, unlock new legal moves, and engage in matches. Based on the Squishmallow franchise’s similarly expansive roster of characters, it is possible their upcoming mobile game will be similar.
