Hollow Knight Silksong Has Been Delayed, No Longer Releasing in First Half of 2023

It’s been a while since we last heard anything in regards to Hollow Knight Silksong. The follow up to the highly successful Hollow Knight was last shown to us almost year ago with the initial release time frame set for early 2023. Unfortunately, it looks like we’re going to be waiting bit longer for the anticipated title. According to Team Cherry Game’s Marketing & Publishing representative Matthew Griffin, the title is still going through development, and will take some more time. As a result, Hollow Knight Silksong will no longer be releasing in the first half of 2023.

Considering that we’re already well into the month of May, this delay is not all that surprising. As for when we will actually see the title launch, Griffin only stated that the title’s “development is still continuing,” and did not give a new release date or a release time frame. Griffin also says that we should expect more details when “we get closer to release.” This could be an indicator that Team Cherry has an internal date ready and is waiting to unleash it upon their fan base. While that plan is being played out internally, we’re probably not going to really know what the actual date is until well into the Summer.

As the follow-up to one of the most critically acclaimed indie titles of all time, Silksong is one of the more highly anticipated entries of 2023. Initially announced in 2019, the game wouldn’t resurface until last year during the Xbox-Bethesda Game Showcase, where it was given a much more grandiose presentation, offering itself as a fully-fledged sequel and not as an expansion. Whenever it does launch, Hollow Knight Silksong will be available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/Series S.
