The Next Mainline Resident Evil Might Be Revealed Soon & Could Be Coming As Soon As January According To Insider

According to insider Dusk Golem, who has a strong track record of sharing confidential information before it’s made public, the next mainline Resident Evil game, Resident Evil 9 is coming in January. According to Golem, it should be revealed soon.

“The possible delay I had heard murmurs about can be pushed aside,” they said. “Resident Evil 9 should be revealed pretty soon and release next year. If what I heard previously holds true, [it] should be in January. It’ll have had about seven years in development.”

Golem reports that this upcoming mainline Resident Evil title, informally referred to as Resident Evil 9, has the biggest budget and longest development time of any Resident Evil game to date.

Golem also claimed earlier this year that Resident Evil 9 will have open-world elements. Golem noted that Capcom will greenlight new initiatives in threes close together like Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry V being announced shortly after Capcom revealed its new RE Engine, which each game has used.

“Dragon’s Dogma II expanded RE Engine functionality for open-world games, the two other games building on this tech is Monster Hunter Wild & Resident Evil 9.”

Last year, Monster Hunter Wilds was announced. It’s set to release in 2025. Capcom has said that more information will be revealed during this Summer. With this news about Resident Evil 9 coming out and getting released soon, we may get a first look at the next Resident Evil sometime during the Summer too.

Microsoft recently announced its Xbox Games Showcase set for June 9. Summer Game Fest is set for June 7. Resident Evil and Monster Hunter Wilds could show up at either of these events or potential PlayStation event which has been rumored to happen sometime this month. Capcom could also announce its own Summer Showcase.

We’ll have to wait and see but if it all shakes out as it’s being reported, the next Resident Evil will be released soon.
