The Lost Wild’s 2027 Release Window and Trailer Revealed In PlayStation State Of Play

PlayStation’s State of Play premiered today, and in it they revealed that The Lost Wild, by developers Great Ape Games and publisher Annapurna Interactive, is set to debut in 2027. Not only that, but the upcoming game will be available not only on Steam, but on PlayStation and Epic Games Store.

This news comes as a great surprise and treat to players who have been waiting for The Lost Wild’s release window for almost five years since its initial announcement. To showcase more, Great Ape Games and Annapurna Interactive dropped a True Fear Is Primal Trailer which explores a bit of Saskia, the protagonist’s background, the world of the game and of course some of her interactions with dinosaurs.

In the trailer, Saskia’s in the back of a car discussing how her favourite was “the allosaurs” with her father, while holding toy versions of two dinosaurs, she lifts one that’s presumably an allosaurus, in a switch, a huge allosaurus is shown in the island where the main part of the game’s located. This back and forth between Saskia and her fathers conversation, and the dinosaur continue until their car is hit. Then, the main game’s shown as Saskia explores abandoned buildings while hiding from different kinds of dinosaurs.

The trailer teases a good wealth of buildings to cover, with almost fully intact buildings, buildings with wrecked foundations, massive towers and what seems to be scientific facilities as well as the wilderness which looks vast. In one of the buildings, when interacting with a dinosaur, Saskia is shown to be able to throw things at the dinosaurs, she’s also shown to be able to run, and hide, with her other abilities closely hidden. The trailer ends on a “choice” that Saskia is forced to make, between running for her life and something yet to be unveiled, creating much suspense for future trailers and information reveals.

With this trailer’s story tease and visuals, players can see more of The Lost Wild, but not all, as in an accompanying press release, Great Ape Games’ CEO teases that it’s “a survival horror experience unlike any other” creating higher expectation for the upcoming game. Saskia isn’t just facing dinosaurs she’s facing well knowledgeable, smart hunters who Saskia has to study to survive, and choose ways to explore, whether moving carefully or entering into the unknown. There’s also the choice between using items, as they eventually increase the “danger” level the more Saskia goes forth, with “non-lethal weaponry” creating a unique game experience. Players can also use “distractions,” “the environment,” and “temporarily scare” dinosaurs with non lethal weapons such as Saskia throwing an item at the dinosaur, to survive. The Lost Wild will have players employing a variety of methods to stay alive, those interested can wishlist and follow its journey on socials
