The Game Awards Welcomes Phil Harrison To Its Advisory Board

The Game Awards is the the annual awards ceremony that celebrates and commends video game creators and players across many different platforms that games can enjoyed such as console, mobile and PC gaming, as well as eSports. It was created by Geoff Keighley back in 2014, and last year’s event reached over 31 million viewers worldwide.

Recently, there has been a new addition to the The Game Awards advisory board which helps guide the ceremony’s mission to celebrate video games as the “most powerful form of entertainment.” Currently, the advisory board over The Game Awards includes executives from some of the biggest names within the video gaming industry such as Activision, EA, Kojima Productions, Microsoft, Nintendo of America, Rockstar Games, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Ubisoft and more.

Now, they have chosen to officially appoint Phil Harrison, who is currently the Vice President and General Manager for Google’s new game streaming platform Stadia, to its advisory board to help them further achieve their mission. Harrison seems like an easy choice for the advisory board due to his long history within the gaming industry wearing various hats.

Regarding the announcement, Geoff Keighley stated, “We are thrilled to have Phil Harrison join our advisory board, which plays an important role in setting the strategic direction for The Game Awards.” Keighley would continue with, “Phil’s deep experience in this industry over many decades, not to mention his current role at Google, make him an invaluable addition as we head into our fifth anniversary show later this year.”

Before spearheading Google Stadia, Harrison served as Vice President at Microsoft, and even had a 15 year stint in an executive role at Sony Computer Entertainment before that. With the addition of his experiences to the board, we can look forward to big things coming for the future of The Game Awards.
