Trover Saves The Universe Release Trailer Hypes The Weird

A truly odd and intriguing game is on its way from the developers at Squanch Games. Trover Saves the Universe is a comedy adventure from the mind of Justin Roiland that has just shown a sneak peak into the game with a recent release date trailer. For those unaware, Justin Roiland is one of the co-creator’s of Rick and Morty, so expect that special sense of humor to be infused into Trover too. Some players will also be surprised, and relieved, to hear that, unlike many upcoming PC titles, Trover is coming to both Steam and Epic stores. Check out the release trailer here:

Trover Saves the Universe starts with your dogs being kidnapped or “dognapped” by Glorkon, who is completely mad. He has taken your dogs and “stuffed them into is eye holes and is using their life essence to destroy the universe.” Yes, you read that right. Players will have to team up with the purple-eyed monster, Trover. This will be a difficult task though as he isn’t the working type and is the absolute last person you would want trying to save the universe.

Trover and you will battle strange monsters all over different, colorful environments and planets. From the trailer and screenshots, potential players can see that they will take control of Trover and use their character’s remote “controller,” which will even be shown on screen as the purple monster hacks, slashes, and platforms. You will control Trover’s actions, but not what he says. This bizarre adventure will also involve puzzles and questionable choices as players upgrade Trover and his abilities that will aid in traversing through the madness of this game.

Trover Saves the Universe will release for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR on May 31 and on PC on both Steam and the Epic Games Store on June 4. It was previously shown off in a demo at PAX West last year:
