The Game Awards 2022: Norman Reedus, Lea Seydoux, And Troy Baker Return; Elle Fanning And Shioli Katsuna Join Death Stranding 2

Well, now it’s official. Following Norman Reedus’ unofficial announcement and the many teasers leading up to The Game Awards. Kojima Productions’ next title is Death Stranding 2.

In typical Kojima fashion, the trailer goes all over the place, but we see the return of Norman Reedus as Sam, Lea Seydoux as Fragile, and Troy Baker. The trailer starts off on a shot of a child’s toy but we learn very quickly it’s something related to Death Stranding with the signature inky handprint. There is a quick shot of an idol of some sort with a figure in the middle. We see a group carrying a casket towards some very odd structures. Next, we see Fragile playing with a baby. An alarm seems to go off and she takes the baby away as she is being hunted by some mysterious figures.

She makes her way outside and onto a motorcycle before getting shot at and loses control. A shadowy figure aims a gun and we see a glimpse of a BB with the same black ink coming out of his eyes. Then, it transitions into Fragile with the same black ink coming out of her eyes. She either loses consciousness or dies. All of a sudden. there’s a broken BB tank with a BB that seems to be forming out of thin air.

Sam Porter Bridges goes up some stairs and sees Fragile as she calls up a Drawbridge before telling Sam “it’s time for you to hit the road and start a new journey.” It then transitions to a mysterious character voiced and played by Troy Baker who may be playing the same character from the first game surrounded by what looks like robot soldiers before taking off his mask. The final scene of the trailer is tentacles forming within the BB tank.

It’s worth noting that the music being played throughout the trailer is titled BB’s Theme 2022 and features vocals from Troy Baker’s character. It may mean nothing or it could mean everything. We’ll just have to wait and see whenever the game gets released.

The trailer also confirmed the additions of Elle Fanning and Shioli Katsuna to the cast, something that Kojima teased leading up to this reveal.

Paul David Nuñez: I love to escape my reality with books, music, television, movies, and games. If I'm not doing anything important, I'm probably doing one of these things. P.S. The Matrix Has You
