The Developers of Alba: A Wildlife Adventure Plan to Plant a Tree for Every Game Sold

From the developers of other well-known, relaxing games like Monument Valley and Lands End, Alba: A Wildlife Adventure recently released earlier this month to Apple Arcade and earlier this week on PC. Users will play as Alba, a young girl who is visiting her grandparents who live on the fictional island of Pinar del Mar, which is inspired by Mediterranean influences. In the game, Alba discovers plans to build a luxury hotel that will have a negative environmental impact on the idyllic island while exploring, photographing, and sometimes helping the island’s wildlife.

Due to the clear environmentalism messages intertwined in Alba: A Wildlife Adventure, the developers, Ustwo games, have decided to plant a tree for every download of the game with the goal of planting one million trees. They have joined with Ecologi as well as Count Us In, a large collective of people and groups vowing to make positive progress in the fight to alleviate climate change. Art Director and creative lead, David Fernandez Huerta, spoke optimistically of these partnerships.

Conservation and fighting climate change are causes that are very close to the hearts of everyone at ustwo games…We want to be the kind of company Alba herself would be proud to recruit to her cause.

Currently, it is released on Apple Arcade, Steam, and GOG, but there are plans to release on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X in the spring of 2021. Downloads on these platforms will also count towards the one million tree goal.
