Tales From the Borderlands to Receive Physical Release

Whoever said point-and-click games are dead?

Definitely not Telltale Games. Though previously known for their reboots of the Sam and Max series, Poker Night at the Inventory, and an episodic adventure based off the cult-favorite Homestar Runner web series, Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People, the California-based studio burst into the general gaming public with point-and-click adaptations of several popular media franchises in 2012. Renowned for their compelling characters and their knack for immersing players in heartrending storylines, Telltale’s recent successes include games based on the The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and Fable series (the latter of which is named The Wolf Among Us), as well as an adaptation of Gearbox Software’s Borderlands series titled Tales From the Borderlands.

All of these series concluded a season each last year, and Telltale recently teased the third season of their The Walking Dead saga. Today, they announced that Tales From the Borderlands will be receiving a five-part physical release, with each episode on its own disc.

Tales From the Borderlands takes place on the intergalactic backwater that is the planet Pandora, two years after the events of Borderlands 2. The player controls Hyperion corporate wage slave Rhys and con artist Fiona, who find themselves in all manner of hilarious and ultra-violent misadventures. Along the way, they meet a colorful cast of not-entirely-sane characters, as well as returning fan favorites from previous Borderlands games, who help them out on their quest to find treasure and uncover Pandora’s mysterious alien secrets.

Driven by wit, humor, and just the right dash of tender moments, Tales From the Borderlands captured the hearts of Borderlands fans and non-fans alike. Its ability to flesh out the rather sparse narrative world of the Borderlands universe, meanwhile, is another testament to Telltale’s storytelling prowess, and undoubtedly a sign of more great stories to come from the now-famous company.

Tales From the Borderlands’ disc release will hit European shores on April 22, while North America will get it on April 26. It will be available for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
