Take Two’s Private Division Acquires Four Studios Working on Unannounced Indie Games

Take-Two Interactive’s publishing label Private Division has announced on Wednesday 4 new publishing agreements with independent developers Die Gute Fabrik, Evening Star, Piccolo Studio and Yellow Brick Games. This partnership means that unannounced titles will add to Private Division’s portfolio which includes OlliOlli World, The Outer Worlds, Kerbal Space Program and more. Private Division is Take-Two’s third publishing label focused on indie games developed by small to mid-sized studios. Their new partnership is in light of Private Division acquiring Roll7 in 2021, a BAFTA award-winning game studio that had developed OlliOlli World.

“At Private Division we champion the best creative talent in the games industry, and these four teams and the experiences that they are building represent an array of genres that will appeal to many different gaming audiences,” said Michael Worosz, Executive Vice President and Head of Private Division.

“Die Gute Fabrik, Evening Star, Piccolo Studio, and Yellow Brick Games each have their own wildly diverse creative visions, and we’re thrilled to help introduce their games to the world.”

All four studios share a similar vision with Private Division in terms of bringing creative and memorable games to the world. Die Gute Fabrik is a Copenhagen-based company that develops story-driven games such as their best known 2019 Indie Game Festival and Indiecade award winner Mutazione. Die Gute Fabrik was founded in 2008 by Nils Deneken with an aim to draw inspiration from a variety of disciplines and histories and to push the boundaries of what games can be. Currently, the company is led by CEO and Creative Director Hannah Nicklin, who reveals that they will share more information about their next story-driven adventure game down the line.

Evening Star is a studio headquartered in Los Angeles with additional operations in London and Melbourne. They are best known for working on critically acclaimed Sonic Mania Plus for SEGA, and will come out with their debut 3D action platformer utilizing their proprietary Star Engine.

Piccolo Studio, was founded in 2015 by three founders with a passion for video games. With the help of some of the most talented game developers across Spain, their 2019 debut title Arise: A Simple Story accrued critical acclaim for its storytelling and gameplay. They are currently developing a unique new IP with Private Division.

Yellow Brick Games is a hybrid development team based in Quebec City in 2020 with members who work locally and remotely. Their aim is to deliver innovative and emergent gameplay crafted by a small but skilled team. They have worked on numerous successful AAA franchises including Dragon Age, Assassin’s Creed and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six. Their first step is an unannounced action RPG.

All four titles from each studio are in development and will be announced by Private Division in the future. These titles will not be expected to launch until Take-Two’s Fiscal Year 2024.
