Street Fighter 5 Audio Files Bolster Past Character Leaks, Includes Future Tournaments

Try as they might, game developers these days just can’t seem to secure their games from the prying hands (and minds) of intrepid dataminers. Capcom and their upcoming fighting game Street Fighter V are no exception. A user by the name of AceKombat on the fighting game discussion forum Shoryuken.com has uncovered trove of audio files that may shed some light on Capcom’s future plans for the game, or at the very least generate some speculation.

If you do not wish to download the .rar file, the sound clips can be heard here.

Included in this batch are the names of ranks given to players for online ranked matches, all of the current planned characters, and the names of Capcom Pro Tour events that resemble the soundbytes Street Fighter 4 played when selecting an in-game stage, where the in-game announcer will list the name of an event and its host country. Why the announcer is female, and not male like that heard in the current builds of Street Fighter V, is unclear.

The full list of character names further reinforces the list of Characters leaked in datamine conducted last week, minus Nadeshiko, whose data may be present alongside the rest of the game’s characters because she appears during R. Mika’s special moves. The list of major tournaments, meanwhile, has no known use yet. But they could be a sign that Capcom is taking measures to strengthen Street Fighter V’s player community, as the sound files could be used in-game to announce upcoming or occurring tournaments that viewers could watch straight from the game itself.

Street Fighter V is set to release in February 2016 for PS4 and PC.
