Steins;Gate is an incredibly popular visual novel and has been regarded by many as one of the greatest visual novels of all time. This is due to the interesting sci-fi story, vivid world, and diverse cast of characters. Steins;Gate 0 creates a new story in this incredibly popular universe and “looks set to maintain this exceptionally high standard with a story which explores an alternative world line.” This new story finds main character and scientist Okabe Rintaro in a deep depression after realizing that he will become unable to save the love of his life. Okabe abandons his relationships and his research and a series of events are put into motion that could destroy the world itself. Fan favorite characters such as Mayuri, Farris, Daru, Moeka, Luka and Suzuha all make appearances in the game and attempt to work together to bring their friend back from the brink. There will also be new characters added to the universe and the exploration of themes like time travel and artificial intelligence. This new dark sci fi storyline is meant to impress fans of the series and “blow their minds.” The first English trailer for Steins;Gate 0 can be seen below.
