The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has had a strong presence in the mobile gaming industry, with SEGA adapting the iconic blue hedgehog to various platforms since the early 2000s. From mobile ports of games like Sonic the Hedgehog (1991) and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, to more recent mobile exclusive titles like Sonic Runners (2015) and Sonic Runners Adventure (2017). The constant integration of Sonic properties with video games helps keep the franchise fresh, allowing for the possibility of new characters and storylines.
SEGA’s upcoming mobile title Sonic Rumble, was first announced by SEGA on May 8, 2024, through the company’s official channels. A closed beta test was also conducted in the United States from May 24 to May 26, 2024. At first the upcoming game’s predicted global release date was slated for winter of 2024, but this changed recently when SEGA postponed the launch to spring 2025 for additional development time this February.
Sonic Rumble announced its spring global launch via a post on the game’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on February 26.
