SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake Coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/Series S Next Month

It looks like another one of THQ Nordic’s properties is coming to the now modern console line. The publisher, and developer Purple Lamp Studios announced that SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake will be officially making its way to the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/Series S next month on October 16. In addition, the title will be receiving a plethora of brand new features, including photo mode. These features will be not only available to the current console generation, but to the previous ones as well, including the PlayStation 4, Xbox One.

The photo mode will allow players to use up to 19 different filters to create your desired finish. There are also new costumes to unlock, such as the King Doubloon which is only given to once you’ve collected all of the doubloons. Another costume is the Plush Gary, which is only available once all other rewards have been unlocked. On top of that, the PlayStation 5 version will utilize the haptic feedback on the signature DualSense controller. For instance, the controller will play audio when picking items up, and the triggers will activate when using the reef blower and swinging hook.

The new update will also attempt to address some major bugs and issues. This includes the save function which has been known to stop working, as well as the game not fully pausing. SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake originally launched earlier this year for the aforementioned last generation systems, as well as the Nintendo Switch and PC. The game received mixed reviews, but was still a welcome entry for longtime fans of the franchise as a whole.
