Sony’s Future Of Gaming Event Rescheduled For June 11th

PlayStation fans looking forward to the Sony PlayStation 5 Future Of Gaming Event won’t have to wait much longer. The new release date was revealed on a Twitch advertisement, which states that the PlayStation 5 Future Of Gaming Event will be airing in three days, on June 11th, at 1 pm PT, 4 PM ET, and 9 pm BST. Although the advertisement has been released on Twitch, Sony has yet to release an advertisement on their official channels.

The PlayStation 5 Future of Gaming event was initially going to be aired on June 4th, but the reveal was delayed in order to honor the death of George Floyd and show support for the Black Lives Matter Movement. A number of other companies and studios also made similar gestures such as RockStar Games making Red Dead Redemption Online and Grand Theft Auto Online inaccessible for two hours on June 4th, and Riot Games investing $10 million towards minority-owned companies.

At the moment, Sony has yet to reveal much about what gamers can expect to be able to play once the PlayStation 5 is released, but fans were able to get a sample of what is in store for them back in May when Epic Games released video demonstrating the power of the Unreal Engine 5 running on the PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, while a number of third party games have been confirmed, it is currently unknown what Sony games will be playable upon launch. Aside from the nine-minute demonstration of Unreal Engine 5,  as well as the various features confirmed by Sony such as backwards compatibility, and the lack of loading screens, fans know very little about what the PlayStation 5 has in store for them. While more information regarding what the PlayStation 5 Future Of Gaming event is currently unavailable, it is likely that more information will be revealed very soon.

The PlayStation 5 will be released during Holiday 2020 and its price is currently unknown.
