Psyonix announced earlier today via Twitter that Stranger Things is coming to the world of Rocket League, or rather, players would be transported to the Upside Down. Rocket League‘s seasonal Halloween event, called Haunted Hallows, will be getting an injection of all things stranger with plenty of new cosmetics and even a spin on a popular arena. The event begins on October 14 and is sure to be a scary good time.
The event will feature a host of both Stranger Things cosmetics as well as fall/Halloween-themed goodies. Players can spend Candy Corn, the event currency, on Dustin’s hat, a Demogorgon player banner and title (aptly stylized “DEMOgorgon”), a Scoops Ahoy avatar border, a Stranger Things rocket boost, some Starcourt Mall wheels, and a universal car decal based on Hopper’s epic Hawaiian shirt. If Stranger Things isn’t your thing, there are plenty of other goodies for you, including a candy-coated Dominus decal, spider-infested universal decal, and fall foliage toppers, decals, and rocket boosts.
Fan-favorite arena Farmstead also looks to get the Stranger Things treatment. Based on the event trailer, which you can check out below, the map will be covered in the signature Upside Down vines, rain unidentified (and, quite frankly, very creepy) dust particles, and be shrouded in eerie semi-darkness. While shown in the trailer, it is still unclear if the Demogorgon will make an appearance just outside the confines of the arena. The cage never seemed so flimsy…
Special event crates, called Golden Pumpkins, can also be purchased with Candy Corn. “The Hawkins National Laboratory has developed top-secret, in-game items including Golden Pumpkins containing items from the Accelerator, Velocity, and Triumph Crates.” Depending on when Psyonix rolls out Blueprints this December, it could be the last holiday to feature similar event crates.
