Rhythm Based RPG Nocturne Released on Steam After Ten Years in Development

Nocturne, a “genre-defying RPG with unique rhythm combat,” has officially been released in its entirety after spending ten years in development. This is the first game to be released by Pracy Studios, an indie studio run almost entirely by Benjamin Pracy. So far, Nocturne has found an immense success on various social media platforms, with each video accumulating thousands of views, and, in turn, over thirty thousand downloads of the demo that had been released during Steam Next Fest this past summer.

Nocturne’s rich narrative will leave you questioning what it means to be alive, while you traverse a beautiful world that’s falling apart around you.

Players find themselves waking up in the Digital Afterlife, a world that has remained “silent for a thousand years,” long after humanity has gone extinct. They soon learn that this world is not as silent as they had thought, encountering a “cast of unusual characters who’ll challenge what it means to be alive,” alongside a “huge variety of enemies and bosses with unique mechanics and unexpected twists.”

Players battle these enemies through an “entirely skill based rhythm combat system.” This system includes six difficulty options, allowing players of all skill levels to enjoy the music and gameplay without feeling too challenged or disengaged. Once an enemy is defeated, they are unlocked in a separate Arcade Mode, where players can replay their favorite tracks and “go for new high scores.” Each of these 101 enemy tracks have been recorded live by the Slovak National Symphony Orchestra and imported for gameplay.

So far, Nocturne has received over two hundred forty “Very Positive” reviews on Steam, along with being recognized as a Pax Rising Official Selection and a winner for the Best Studio Game award during the 2025 Summer Season of The Game Development World Championship. Pracy Studios does not have any current plans to release the ten hour story anywhere other than Steam, despite sharing interest in producing console versions of Nocturne.
