Earlier this year, the reimagining of Fable from Playground Games was officially revealed. It is set to release this Autumn, however, a new report claims that the game has been internally delayed and may get pushed into 2027 due to concerns over releasing close to Grand Theft Auto VI, which is set to release in November.
“I’ll say that I’ve heard that Fable has been pushed internally,” Grubb said. “But, that doesn’t mean that it’s coming out next year.
“Apparently, they’re still trying to get it out this year, but they are worried about the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6, and so if it’s getting delayed beyond the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, that could push it into December, which might make it a prime candidate to get delayed into 2027,” he added.
“So while Xbox will have a lot of games coming out this year, that’s one that there’s still a big question mark around.”
Currently, Forza Horizon 6 is set to release on May 19, 2026. A release date will most likely be revealed for Gears of War:E-Day this Summer after the Xbox Games Showcase. The game is the focus of the Developer Direct that is set to premiere afterwards. The game’s that have gotten this slot in the past, Starfield and The Outer Worlds 2, have released within the year. Halo: Campaign Evolved is also set to release this year but no release date has been given yet.
Following the announcement of the report, Playground Games reassured everyone doubling down the launch window of Autumn 2026.
