Remedy Entertainment Says Alan Wake 2 is in The “Last Major Phase of Full Production”

Remedy Entertainment has some excellent news for its fans, especially those who are excited for Alan Wake 2. In an investor press release, the studio has revealed that the overall development on the upcoming title is going very well, so much so that apparently it has everyone at the studio “very excited” about its impending release. Remedy CEO Tero Virtala states in this release that Alan Wake 2 has now entered into the “last major phase of full production,” and is also being prepped for its 2023 launch later this year.

In addition, Virtala also mentions that a couple of other major projects are moving forward with production. One of these is the much-anticipated Control 2, the sequel to the highly acclaimed Control which released in 2019. The title was moved into the “proof-of-concept stage” back in January. Virtala added that the team focused on world-building and game mechanics, fleshing out the overall title and continuing with its progression. Virtala also said that Codename Condor, a co-op multiplayer title set in Control‘s own world, has also been moved into the proof-of-concept stage, and along with Control 2 will expand the series as a whole.

Another project that Remedy has been working on is the Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake. Virtala touches on this as well stating that the development has gone well and has also been moved into the proof-of-concept stage. Virtala explains that the team has been doing everything they can to keep the “key elements” of the original Max Payne titles while also bringing them into the current market with high visual quality and other new features. The project is expected to advance further as the year goes on, as will the development team as other projects are completed. As the year continues to progress, we wouldn’t be surprised to see some official release dates announced for some of these projects, especially Alan Wake 2, who will have the original voice actor returning to his iconic role
