QC Games Closes Down, Future Looks Bleak for Breach

According to a post on the Breach website yesterday, QC Games is closing down for good. The post is a heartfelt goodbye to their player base, first thanking the players for their support over the years. “Unfortunately, today is the last official day for QC Games, as we begin winding down internal operations on Breach.” Breach, which was released in Early Access on Steam in January of this year, is a 4vs1 co-op RPG where four mages do battle against a demon, all of which can be player controlled. The game currently sits in “Mixed Reviews” purgatory on Steam and received some less-than-stellar reviews on the online storefront.

The studio, which has only been around since 2015, did not cite a reason for the studio’s closure, but looking at the recent string of layoffs from larger companies such as EA and Activision Blizzard could give some insight to the situation. While the studio knows that it is closing, it seems as though they are still unsure just how much time Breach has left online. “We’re sure you have a lot of questions about Breach, your accounts, and the future of the game. Our team is still working on defining what this means for Breach and for our community, and we’ll post an updated article soon with answers to as many questions as we can cover.”

The post links to an FAQ detailing what will be happening with the game, though it doesn’t shed much more light. What we know for now is that Breach will remain online for the time being, though in-game purchases have been disabled. Players wishing to get refund for recently purchased in-game items are directed to Steam support and QC Games support. Unfortunately, that is all the information given by QC at this time, with a note to check back in later for more information.
