PUBG Mobile Partners with BABYMONSTER for New Event and Exclusive Drops

PUBG Mobile, developed by LightSpeed & Quantum Studio, a division of Tencent Games, in March 2018, is the on-the-go version of the hit video game, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG). PUBG Mobile quickly became one of the most popular mobile games in the world, letting players engage in a massive multiplayer battle royale experience on their own smartphones. When rounds start, up to 100 players are parachuted onto an island where they fight to be the last one standing. The map gets smaller as time progresses, which forces players to confront each other. In addition to simulated combat, much of PUBG Mobile’s gameplay consists of scavenging strategically. Players must find weapons, gear, and vehicles all while planning tactical movements.

One way that PUBG Mobile has managed to stay relevant is through its frequent partnerships and collaborations, which often feature special in-game rewards. Some famous PUBG Mobile collabs include Mission: Impossible Fallout, with themed items like Ethan Hunt’s outfit, Resident Evil 2, with costume sets, weapons, and enemies from the game, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, with Godzilla-themed skins and in-game events, and many more.

PUBG Mobile’s latest collab began yesterday, featuring hit K-Pop group BLACKPINK, which had previously partnered with the mobile game in July 2022. BLACKPINK is an all-girl group formed by YG Entertainment in 2016. They debuted on August 8, 2016, with the single album Square One. This album achieved significant success in South Korea with hit tracks like “Boombayah” and “Whistle.”

PUBG Mobile recently announced the BLACKPINK collab event via a post on the game’s official X (formerly Twitter) account. According to the post the event is set to last from March 21, 2025, to March May 6, 2025.

The event is being referred to as Festive Party and will feature daily and special missions for rewards like the crate coupons, BabyMonster Drip Dance, and AG currency. Video calls and photos with the members will also take place in lobbies before matches.

I am captivated by video games and how they function as a story telling medium. Mobile games, specifically, are increasingly complex forms of entertainment that can be played on the go. While many video games are available only to those who can afford expensive consoles and computers, mobile games are designed for the average person.
