Preview the Raging Demon With the Akuma Street Fighter 6 Character Guide

Well it’s been almost a year since Capcom’s flagship fighting game franchise Street Fighter’s latest addition, Street Fighter 6, has been released and now we are seeing the end of the road for season 1. After what seemed like an eternity Street Fighter 6 players will now finally get a season 2 patch to hopefully refresh the game for them. Also on that note Rashid, AKI, and Ed have all been released and now Akuma is waiting in the wings for his release date on May 22nd. To tide us over until then Capcom has released a gameplay guide giving us a small preview of Akuma and what he’s capable of.

For veterans of the Street Fighter series, a lot of these things will look very familiar to you. Akuma brings the typical shotokan karate moveset but the Demon Flip and the super fireball make their return, on top of his teleport and air fireball as well as the gnarliest take on the Raging Demon that we’ve ever seen. Akuma also brings some new tricks in the form of a command grab that he can perform out of his teleport, which sounds very annoying, as well as being the first and only character to come with two Critical Arts. To compensate for all his strengths, Akuma is given a weakness in the form of lower max health than the rest of the cast, as is tradition for the series. Depending on just how low his health is this could not matter due to Street Fighter 6’s high damage output making a small decrease in health not matter, or it could be crippling due to Street Fighter 6’s high damage output making a large decrease in health one touch kill territory.

Regardless, the community as a whole all seem to think Akuma looks very broken from what we’ve seen, again as is tradition. We strongly recommend you to check out the gameplay preview above and see for yourself whether or not you’ll welcome Akuma into your home come his debut on May 22nd.
