Pragmata, the newest science-fiction adventure game by Capcom, has officially sold over 1 million copies just two days after its initial release on April 17, 2026. Pragmata is an all-new IP for the company, so it didn’t have an existing brand or fan base to support its initial launch. Still, once again, Capcom has shown how much talent resides within the company and released an all-new hit that can sell more than 1 million copies worldwide, which is impressive.
In a press release made on April 20 by Capcom, they announce the big milestone of selling over 1 million units worldwide, they also go on to talk about how the game is an all-new IP, so they didn’t have a name or fanbase to fall back on so they explain how they managed to implement some marketing strategies to help the games success by “beginning with the early release of a playable demo — to communicate the unique features of the game to a wider audience. In addition, in line with the company’s multi-platform strategy, Capcom broadened the title’s availability by adding support for Nintendo Switch™ 2 at an early stage.” They also explain that the team behind Pragmata is primarily composed of young developers.
The Pragmata team also had an official comment in the press release: “As a completely new IP, PRAGMATA represents a new challenge for Capcom, built from the ground up with an original world and gameplay concept. We are truly delighted that so many players around the world have enjoyed the game, enabling us to reach this milestone of one million units sold. Moving forward, we will continue making every effort to deliver the appeal of PRAGMATA to an even broader audience.”
Pragmata was released on April 17, 2026, and has been nothing short of a success for being an all-new IP for Capcom. It’s a science-fiction adventure game that lets the player take control of Hugh William and, together with Diana and an android girl, explore a near-future lunar world full of action and puzzles. The reviews for the game have been nothing but positive, even shocking many people with how good it is. Now, with this milestone, Capcom has a new IP to explore for future games and series—and it also shows the gaming industry that players are hungry for new IPs and want to see more. Capcom continues to push the industry forward in a good way.
