Play As A Monster Hunting Fortune Teller In The Recently Released RPG Fortune-499

Fortune-499 is a recently released strategic role-playing game about a future with no future.

Developed by the team over at AP Thomson, the world within Fortune-499 revolves primarily around magic and money. Players adopt the role of a fortune teller who works in the magical resources department of a large corporation. The profession is accompanied by the menial tasks of typical office life, such as attending meetings and forwarding emails, but it also consists of the flourishing activities that come with supernatural bidding, such as fighting back a horde of deranged monsters. Through utilizing your magical abilities, you’ll be in charge of crafting a future out of a hand you’ve been dealt, and all while keeping the best interest of your office in mind.

The first step in your journey derives of building a deck of fortunes, unraveling the hidden mysteries buried within the plot, and defeating entities by predicting their next moves. Being able to see into the future will grant you various advantages throughout your journey, but make sure the little things, like checking your email in the morning, are still checked off before any spells are cast.

The interface of Fortune-499 is designed simplistically and mainly uses pixel art to depict its world. You’ll only be seeing about four different colors on screen at once and find yourself reading a lot of text that pertain to your worried co-workers pleading for a benevolent fortune read. The 8-bit design is not without depth, though, as a rich narrative and smooth ambient soundtrack paint a story filled with intrigue. Between receiving emails from co-workers asking whether or not you want to go out for a drink, you’ll be going head-to-head against bosses, and all while keeping a cool composure through the thick of it.

If this old-school supernatural adventure seems like your cup of tea, be sure to check it out on Steam.
