Persona 4 Golden Sells Half a Million PC Copies

There has been increasing demand to get the Persona series into the PC space. Atlus did release Persona 4 Golden onto Steam after revealing it at the PC Gaming Show. Although some early leaks hinted at the possibility of the game getting the port. Atlus Japan, a smaller team at Atlus, ported the game to a reception that has been astounding. Persona 4 Golden has now achieved over half a million sales through Steam, only a month after its release.

Persona 4 Golden gained a large following even on the day of its release, garnering a following just shy of 30,000. While the current numbers have dipped since its debut, that is not uncommon for games to loose players after the initial month as players only stick around for a while to complete any single player options and dabble in the multiplayer scene. Persona 4 Golden will have its community population into a settled base and then will likely start slowly growing again over the years and has more Persona games are released over time.

Persona 4 Golden is growing almost a decade old, with a PlayStation 2 release in 2008 followed by a PSP Vita release in 2012, and the high amount of sales in its opening months will more than likely encourage Atlus to port over more of the Persona series to Steam. Sega, another publisher for the Persona property, has been making more PC ports priority after the success of the Yakuza series and Persona 4 Golden’s success seems to be reinforcing that strategy. Persona 5 is another popular hit and there is increasing demand to get a PC port for that game as well, especially after the release of Persona 4 Golden. Earlier this year, Persona 5 Royal, the updated version of Persona 5 as Golden is for Persona 4 was revealed to achieve record sales in the West. So at some point, a release on another platform could be possible.

No plans have been announced yet for a Persona game of Persona 4 Golden being released onto another distribution platform that is not Valve’s Steam.

Griffin Gilman: Gaming may very well be half of my personality, so it is only natural that I write about them. The best genre is RPGs, while the best game is Nier Automata. That's not an opinion but a matter of facts.
