Pac-Man 99 Announced, Available Now For Nintendo Switch

Two years ago, Tetris 99 was announced, bringing different spin to the franchise by making it into a battle royale. Last year, in celebration of Super Mario Bros.’s 35th anniversary, a new battle royale version was released, similar to Tetris 99. Today, Nintendo has released the next old-school game to get the battle royale treatment, Pac-Man 99Like Tetris 99 and Super Mario Bros. 35 when it was available to playthe game is only available for Nintendo Switch Online members.

The way Pac-Man 99 works is similar to Tetris 99 and Super Mario Bros. 35. As you eat a power pellet to turn ghosts blue and eat them when they are vulnerable, you’ll send Jammer Pac-Man to your opponents. The more ghosts you eat, the more Jammers you’ll send. There are eight different preset strategies that you can employ to be the last Pac-Man standing. you can speed up, send extra Jammers, and more. Switching at the right time can give you an edge over your opponents. Eating a ghost train can be particularly effective. Power-ups include Standard, Train, Stronger, and Speed. Players can also dictate how you target other players. These options are Counter, Random, Hunter, and Knockout.

Downloadable custom themes can be purchased to make the game look like your favorite NAMCO classics. Xevious, GALAGA, Dig Dug, and more themes can change the look of the game. There are twenty different classic themes in total. They will not only change the graphics but the sounds as well.

Pac-Man 99 is releasing shortly after the “day Mario dies“. On March 31, Nintendo removed several Mario products from sale including Super Mario Bros. 35Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Watch: Super Mario Bros., and the merch collection for Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary.
