Outland to Arrive on Steam

The positively-reviewed 2D arcade platforming game, Outland, is coming to PC Steam users Sept. 29 of this year, at a price of $9,99, €9,99, £6,99. The game, developed by Housemarque (their first venture into the platforming genre) and originally published by Ubisoft, received awards from gaming media outlets IGN and Gamespot: “Best PSN Game” and “Best Download-only Console Game,” respectively.

The release will include multiple improvements, like a new checkpoint system and the inclusion of campaign cooperative mode. According to the game’s press release, it has been redesigned to appeal to a new audience.

Outland features hand-painted backgrounds in the vein of Mayan art. According to the release, the game has a “fascinating, fable-like atmosphere.” The visuals are accompanied by an original soundtrack, composed by Finnish composer Ari Pulkkinen, whose works are also in Resogun, Dead Nation, and the Trine series.

Outland follows an unnamed protagonist who harnesses the power of light and dark. He uses these powers to fight the “Sister of Chaos,” who have broken out of their imprisonment.
