Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty! Adopts Cross-System Buying

The upcoming remake to the 1997 PSOne classic Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, titled Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty! is close to getting a release date, according to a blog post by publisher Oddworld Inhabitants, and is going to adopt a rather unusual buying system.

The game, under development by Just Add Water, will have an announced release date sometime before E3 on the 9th of June. “We know you, our biggest fans, are eager to play the game, and we’re doubly eager to share it with you – but we just need a few more weeks to get it exactly where we want it to be” reads the post.

More interestingly, New ‘n’ Tasty! will adopt a cross-buy system when it is released for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita . This means that anyone who buys one copy of the game on any of those systems will also have versions for the other two systems.

This also allows for cross-save functionality, which allows saved games on one platform to be used on any of the other PlayStation platforms. So, one could theoretically play the game at home on a PlayStation 4, and then later pick up from where he or she left off while on the bus or train with a Vita.

The PlayStation versions of the game will be priced at $29.99 in the U.S., €24.99 in Europe, and £19.99 in the U.K. Versions of the game for the PC, Mac and Wii U are also planned, but there are no updates as to when we’ll see them.

Series creator Lorne Lanning has said that the next Oddworld game would be possible if New ‘n’ Tasty! moves at least 500,000 copies.
